On May 17-18, the 5th meeting of the Armenian-German School of Oncology (ARGOS) took place at Yerevan State Medical University .
Lilit Harutyunyan, lecturer of the Department of Oncology of YSMU, head of the Oncology Clinic of Mikayelyan University Hospital, made an introductory speech at the conference, noting that various aspects of oncology, such as surgical, gynecological, dermatological cancer will be discussed during this event as well as management issues related to oncology.
YSMU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Konstantin Yenkoyan also made a welcoming speech, expressing satisfaction that there is already an opportunity for discussions, experience sharing and constant cooperation.
The Vice-Rector urged the guests to enjoy not only clinical discussions and presentations, but also our sunny capital.
Then German specialist Eva Wardelmann made a report on pathological problems of the liver and pancreas.
More general cancer cases were discussed by comparing cases in Germany and Armenia.
Michael Quante made a presentation on the topic of “Medical Oncology”, followed by an online presentation-discussion on the topic “Surgical Oncology” by Ekin Demir.
The meeting on May 17 ended with general discussions, presentations of certain cases and final speeches.
The discussions of the second day of the conference were devoted to quality management in oncology.
German researcher Jörg Haier presented a report on “Quality Management in Oncology”, lecturer of the Department of Oncology of YSMU David Zohrabyan and Lilit Harutyunyan presented reports on “Oncology Management in Armenia”, Geganush Stepanyan gave a report on “Nursing Care in Armenia”, Giulia Dinkel reported on ” Specialized Oncology Nursing”, Sebastian Schaefer – ” Carcinoma in Gynecology” and Eva Wardelmann presented a report on ” Mesenchymal Tumors in Gynecology”.
The day ended with discussions, presentation of clinical cases by Armenian university specialists, followed by the closing ceremony.
It’s worth mentioning that cooperation with professors of the University Clinic of Munster of the Federal Republic of Germany began in 2015 and continues successfully to this day. It did not cease even in the conditions of the corona virus pandemic: two conferences were held back then.
