The event organized at YSMU on the initiative of the Embassy of India, dedicated to the official and national language of India-Hindi, was saturated with the Indian cultural spirit, music and dance.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Embassy representatives, welcomed the guests and students, stressing the importance of the role of Hindi in the world, speaking in the native language.
Hindi Day is celebrated annually on September 14. The diplomat recalled that on this very day, in 1949,the Constituent Parliament of India decided to declare Hindi the official language of India.
“Hindi unites us and it is our pride. This is an integral part of us,” the ambassador stressed, urging Indian students to voice it and respect it.
The performance of Rahul Anil Sethi, the head of the Department of International Students Affair,an Indian by nationality, was also impressive. “Our mother speaks this language, and it is familiar to us in the womb, it is in our blood, and at the same time Urdu, one of the official languages of India, is also close to us, and we are proud of it”.
Representatives of linguistic universities and educational institutions, those studying hindi, also spoke Hindi. According to the participants, due to the growing population, Hindi has the potential to become an international language.
It should be noted that according to the results of a study published this year by the European Organization of Ethnologists (Ethnologue), which studies the spread and development of languages and statistics, Hindi is the third of the 10 most widely spoken languages in the world.
About 400 future Indian doctors are being educated at YSMU. They also enthusiastically participated in the event dedicated to their national language, through which they communicate with each other far from their homeland, in everyday life.
