NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) and the Military Medical Faculty are deepening cooperation

Representatives of the Military Medical Faculty, together with the leaders of the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP), discussed the directions of further joint activities at Yerevan State Medical University. An agreement was reached on the visit of the Armenian delegation to the Military Medical Academy in Munich from March 10 to 12, during which representatives of the medical university will study the local educational programs in order to compare them with our postgraduate educational program and outline further activities.

According to Vardan Tsaturyan, the Head of the Faculty, a preliminary agreement has been reached on the training of lecturers in NATO countries (Germany, the USA and Romania). “Also, as a separate unit, the Military Medical Faculty cadets and interns will jointly participate in international military exercises this year,” he said, adding that participation in the large scientific-practical conference on disaster medicine to be held in Sofia in September is also planned.

The meeting also focused on the proposal to create an online platform for military-medical English, in which a working group of 5 members of the medical university’s teaching staff (the Department of Foreign Languages, the Military Medical Faculty) and the relevant department of NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Program will participate. “It will start in March and will continue until November, during which a platform will operate where future military doctors, interns and current military doctors will learn military-medical English, which will greatly facilitate further contacts with specialists in that field,” Vardan Tsaturyan emphasized.
