The preliminary design of the Medical University’s library, which is being modernized and renovated, was the main topic of discussion at the meeting between representatives of the “Keron” Development Foundation and Peter Defesche, one of the two leading architects from the Netherlands, representing Defesche van den Putte (DVDP).
The architect presented the external appearance of this expected large-scale project through graphic images.
The main design ambitions of this completely new and ultra-modern library project, the expected result, section by section, were visually demonstrated to those present at the meeting.
“To every student university years matter as a period of formation, not only professionally and scientifically, but also socially. The library of Yerevan State Medical University aims at becoming a place which students will remember in later years, since it will have served them as an intellectual gathering place as much as a center of knowledge and study”, – the specialist noted, emphasizing that their greatest desire is to create a constantly breathing building.
Every detail was discussed, from the entrance to the terrace, lobby, reading room, computer room, cafe, and other parts that meet the modern requirements of education.
An active exchange of views on all issues took place between YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan and other participants, with the aim of making the library more practical.
Let us recall that for the work on the creation of the new library, an intra-university committee was formed by the Rector’s instruction, which regularly holds online discussions with the “Keron” Foundation, Armenian and foreign colleagues, in order to bring this large-scale initiative to life with joint efforts.
