The end of the academic year and the last session of the Scientific Council of this semester were solemn.
July 9 was marked by the traditional event of the professional oath of graduates at the Medical University.
713 graduates, 204 of whom were foreigners, became participants in the symbolic day dedicated to them. The day was full of impressions.
YSMU Rector, Professor Armen Muradyan congratulated the graduates: “For me, this is not only a memorable day, today is a day of honor, dignity, hope, a great opportunity to express my deep gratitude, first of all, to the parents of our graduates. I am convinced that their family upbringing, their value system, their human nature will play no less a role in the lives of our graduates in the future than the knowledge, skills and, of course, titles they have received”.
Karine Baroyan, Dean of the Faculty of General Medicine; Lazar Yesayan, Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology; Bagrat Yenoqyan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Vardan Tsaturyan, Dean of Military Medical Faculty; Gayane Avetisyan, Head of the International Students’ Academic Affairs Department; as well as Hamayak Sisakyan, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Head of the Clinic of General and Invasive Cardiology and Internal Medicine (as a special quest); congratulated the graduates wishing them good luck in further professional career.
Aram Srapyan, a YSMU graduate and a successful specialist in the United States, Board Certified Internal Medicine physician in California & New Jersey, Board Certified Urologist in Armenia; also addressed the graduates.
The oath-taking ceremony was different this year. On the stage, next to the Armenian and foreign graduates, were accomplished university members, medical scientists, who handed over the symbolic white robe to their younger colleagues with the best wishes for the future.
Announcing the end of the solemn session of the Scientific Council, the Rector once again stated: “Our alma mater is one of the unique universities that, throughout its glorious 100-year biography, has produced thousands of doctors who have given life and health to millions of people. One doctor is one biography, but also thousands of saved lives, hope, faith and, of course, characters on which modern society is built. This is one of the unique universities that was lucky enough to hear the message of the great Charles Aznavour. Alas, this was his last video recording, specifically addressed to Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi. “Yes, we were the university which received that honor. We are the university which was internationally accredited, which improves all its capabilities and platforms year after year, and it is visible, these are not just words.”
