The Deanery of the International Education today unites over 1,700 foreign students. The schooling of the students in YSMU's General Medicine, Dental and Pharmacy Faculties is conducted in three languages: Armenian, Russian and English. The first international students were Armenian Diaspora from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria. YSMU has been training and preparing doctors for other countries for more than 60 years. Nowadays, students from 32 countries all over the world are trained for doctors. The process of internationalization remains a major goal for the medical university, and that is why new prerequisites are created year by year.We talked with Gayane Avetisyan, Dean of the International education, about the issues related to international students; the role of education and the Deanery and their work.

Holly Feast is one of the most famous Indian festivals when Indians celebrate the arrival of spring, spraying each other with colored paints.
On the initiative of the student’s parliament of YSMU, the Iranians celebrated the New Year celebration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nowruz, in a festive atmosphere together with national songs and dances. Nowruz, according to the Iranian calendar is celebrated on the first day of spring on March 21.
On March 19, Yerevan State Economic University summed up the results of the “Best Student” republican award ceremony. Horizon 2020 is the European Union’s largest research and innovation excellence project, which finances only the bests on a basis of competition. The probability of winning the program is 10-14% each year, and the total budget for the seven years (2014-2020) is 80 billion euros. The aim of Twinning program of “The Horizon 2020 Spreading Excellence & Widening Participation Action Plan” is to implement strategically important, institutional, internationally competitive research program which will meet the standards of excellence in those countries which had been applied through cooperation with the leading international scientific institutions of the EU member states.
n event dedicated to Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 150th anniversary was held at Northern University on February 20th, with Henrietta Sukiasyan, Head of the Department of Armenian Language and Medical Terminology of YSMU, and from the same faculty, the homonym choir of “Vernatun” Scientific-Cultural Center.The rector of the Northern University, Boris Makichyan, made a welcoming speech, noting that it is a memorable day for all of them.
As a result of the association of pediatric hemorrhagic services of Children’s oncological clinic and Children’s Cancer Center of “Muratsan” YSMU, a Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Diseases will be established in the professor R.Yolyan’s Hematology Center. According to the director of the Hematology Center, Samvel Danielyan, the forces uniting efforts aim to concentrate on pediatric cancer treatment in one place.

The trainers were Justin Baker, the head of palliative medicine department at the children's research hospital after St.Jude, and Kernie Williams, a renowned specialist in pediatric oncology. The second conference of the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean Group about childeren’s oncology was held on the initiative of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi: co-organisers are: The world’s largest children’s cancer center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital(USA), and the American University of Beirut(Lebanon). It is the first time that Armenia organizes such a large-scale conference on pediatric oncology, which has great importance for the development of the sector.
