The Academic program for the General Medicine in Military Forces Specialtyfinal
The academic program for the “General Medicine in Military Forces” specialty is carried out in 6-year integrated format. Each of the 12 designated semesters carries an academic load of 30 ECTS credits. The annual workload is 60 ECTS credits, one credit corresponds to 30 academic hours. Throughout the course, students engage in the study of both theoretical and practical aspects and other related clinical subjects. Upon completion of the program, graduates are awarded the qualification of a “MD Physician” General Medicine in Military Forces specialty.
The teaching process of theoretical courses is conducted within various university facilities (biochemical, administrative, laboratory, anatomical). The teaching process of clinical courses takes place in the university’s simulation training centre, as well as in university hospital complexes, outpatient clinics, in clinical diagnostic and pathological laboratories adjacent to these complexes and the central clinical military hospital of the RA Ministry of Defence, and other departments of medical preventive institutions of RA and affiliated with the Ministry of Defence of RA. The teaching process is conducted by the teaching staff of the respective departments. Professors engaged in teaching clinical courses are practicing doctors.

The academic program for the “General Medicine in Military Forces” specialty and its educational units are structured in alignment with the requirements of the RA National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the RA “Medicine” Sectoral Qualifications Framework (SQF), taking into consideration the principle of interdisciplinary horizontal and vertical integration, as well as overall programme learning outcomes.
After completing the academic program with the specialty “General Medicine in Military Forces”, the graduate should be ready to perform the following professional functions:
- preventive,
- diagnostic,
- therapeutic,
- rehabilitative,
- scientific research,
- educational,
- organizational-managerial.
To independently carry out preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic functions, a graduate is required to undergo at least one year of postgraduate education.
Leaning outcomes for “General Medicine in Military Forces” MD academic programme are as follows:
- Demonstrate theoretical and practical in-depth knowledge and critical understanding in the field of medicine.
- Perform data collection and analysis on the patient’s health condition.
- Carry out diagnosis and urgent medical aid to Armed Forces personnel in pre-hospital and hospital stages, as well as in emergencies.
- Apply algorithms to conduct clinical and epidemiological examinations, treatment and preventive measures.
- Perform data collection and analysis on health condition of Armed Forces personnel, justification for disease prevention and health care services.
- Organize the management of institutions and bodies realizing medico-prophylactic assistance and sanitary-epidemiological service in RA Armed Forces.
- Carry out educational and military-patriotic activities.
- Skills to work independently with educational, scientific, normative and informative literature and other sources,
- Conduct scientific research on medical issues.
Students who have completed all the courses within the curriculum for the “General Medicine in Military Forces” specialty, passing all exams and tests successfully, are eligible to undergo final attestation that provides an opportunity to assess both the theoretical and practical readiness of future military doctors in addressing objectives outlined in the program, as well as to pursue education in internship, then after in residency and PhD program (theoretical medicine).
The Integrated MD academic programme in the specialty of “General Medicine in Military Forces” is implemented by the Faculty of Military Medicine under the supervision and administration of the Chief of Faculty.
