Admission

YSMU offers admission to the following educational programs:

The admission to General Medicine in Military Forces specialty program is carried out through orders issued by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia.

International students have the opportunity to pursue their education in either Russian or English at YSMU, in accordance with the regulations outlined by the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi conducts annual admissions for bachelor’s and integrated academic programs. The admission process follows the order outlined for state and non-state higher education institutions in the Republic of Armenia (according to bachelor’s degree academic programs):

  1. General Medicine,
  2. General Medicine in Military Forces,
  3. Stomatology,
  4. Pharmacy.

Individuals with a full secondary education or secondary vocational education, both from the Republic of Armenia and foreign countries are eligible to apply to the university. There is no age limit for university admissions. To gain admission, candidates have the right to choose any two out of three subjects for competitive entrance exams, namely “Physics” (written), “Chemistry” (written), and Biology (written).

Applicants must provide the necessary documents as outlined in the admission order of Armenia for both state and non-state higher education institutions (according to the bachelor’s academic program), (see https://dimord.am).

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, offers master’s degree admissions in the following specialties:

  • Public Health and Healthcare,
  • Management,

The duration of the master’s degree academic program ranges from 1 to 1.5 years.

The required documents for graduate admission include:

  • a handwritten application addressed to the Rector,
  • copy of the passport,
  • copies of the diploma and diploma supplement,
  • a list of published works, if applicable, along with copies (if available).
  • four photos in 3×4 size,
  • for graduates of previous years, a brief autobiography in chronological order is required.

Residency programs

To train highly qualified doctors and dentists within the realm of healthcare, the university offers postgraduate professional education through programs covering more than 80 specialties.

After graduation, students have the opportunity to enrol in clinical residency, with a study duration ranging from 1 to 4 years. Annually, a certain number of positions in specific specialties are allocated within the framework of Armenian Government funds.

PhD programs

PhD programs at Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) accept graduates both with Master’s degrees and those who are qualified as MD physicians (with theoretical specialties) through a competitive admissions process as well as the graduates of clinical residency (with clinical specialties).
