Preparatory Education for International Students
The Department of Foreign Students’ Preparatory Education admits foreign citizens who have completed secondary education but are not proficient in the languages of instruction or have insufficient knowledge in general education subjects, as determined through the program’s entrance examinations at YSMU.
Applicants are required to submit the necessary documents for admission to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia by November 15 each year.
The preparatory course commences annually on October 1, and the duration is at least 6 months. This course is exclusively offered through in-person education and encompasses subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, along with Armenian language and Foreign language. The instruction is conducted in three languages: Armenian, Russian, and English, by student’s choice. A preliminary assessment of English proficiency is required for English-language instruction.
Students are offered dormitory accommodation where they are provided with the necessary conditions to organize their life and leisure. They also have the opportunity to actively participate in university cultural and sports events. The department manages correspondence with the students’ parents. The meetings with the embassies of their respective countries and national student unions play a significant role in organizing various aspects of students’ lives, including living arrangements, studying, and recreation.
The preparatory course concludes with final exams, which serve as the entrance exams for the first academic year. Students who successfully pass these final exams at the end of the academic year are then granted admission to the first year of the faculty they have chosen.
Students who receive a positive grade from the final exams of the preparatory course, are granted preparatory course completion certificates.
