The department was established in 2005. The head of the department is Professor A.M. Minasyan. The number of employees of the department is 9. 3 Ph.D. dissertations have been defended. Published 44 scientific articles, 12 of which are abroad.
Training
For independent work of students, the following training tasks, tasks and didactic materials have been compiled. The department also conducts training in English and Russian. Training is conducted according to the following textbooks and teaching aids, which are compiled in accordance with the training program:

Scientific-research work
Scientific topics of the department
– New methods of treatment of non-tumor diseases of the rectum and perineum
– Formation of a preventive ileostomy after resections of the rectum and colon
– Treatment of paracolostomy complications
– Early surgical rehabilitation of patients with single-loop ileostomy and colostomy
– Surgical tactics for the treatment of patients with chronic constipation
– Minimally invasive treatment of rectal diseases
Cooperation
The department closely cooperates with the leading coloproctological centers of the Russian Federation, the European Association of Coloproctologists, the Association of Coloproctologists of Russia. Employees of the department participate in specialized scientific conferences, have speeches on television and radio, publish scientific articles in the press.
Clinical activity of the department
The area occupied by the department is 200 sq.m., the number of classrooms is 3. The department participates in drawing up a plan for the development of the coloproctological service in the Republic of Armenia. If necessary, free consultations of patients are held at the clinical bases of the department and medical institutions.
